Ratha Yatra, or chariot festival, is any public procession in a chariot. They are held annually during festivals in India.
Puri Rath Yatra 2024 will start on the 29th June and celebrated on 7th July. One significance of this Yatra is that people from all religions and faiths can see the deities and participate in the procession, as they are not allowed to enter the temple on other days.
The Ratha Yatra of Puri, also rendered as the Ratha Jatra, is considered the oldest and largest Hindu chariot festival celebrated annually, on the bright half of the lunar month of Ashadh. The festival is held at the city of Puri, in the state of Odisha, India and associated with the deity Jagannath.
This festival is celebrated for nine days, during which Lord Jagannath and other two deities visit the Gundicha Temple and Mausi Maa Temple.
